DIMAPUR, APRIL 30 (MExN): The District & Session Court, Phek on Tuesday sentenced a 30-year old man to life imprisonment for murdering his mother in 2022.
The accused, Kelelo Mero, a resident of Riku Colony, Pfutsero, on August 8, 2022, caused multiple injuries to his mother with a dao at their residence, killing her on the spot. He was under the influence of alcohol.
A press release issued by Government Pleader cum Public Prosecutor, Phek Samuel Ritse said the accused took the plea of insanity and appealed for discharge on the ground that he did not known what he did was either wrong or right at the time of the incident.
The court, after reviewing the findings and evidences, however, rejected the peal of insanity and convicted the accused for murder, sentencing to undergo imprisonment for life. The District & Session Court led by Judge Neiko Akami delivered the verdict.
