‘Manipulation, lack of communication’ cause for split

Lt. Gen. Niki Sumi and Kilonser Hokato Vusshe pose with cadres at Suruhobo designated camp Sunday.

Suruhoto | June 27 : National Socialist Council of Nagaland leaders loyal to S.S Khaplang have blamed the split in the GPRN/NSCN on manipulation by the advisors of the leadership besides lack of communication and coordination among the leaders. The collective leadership were misled, misguided and misused by their advisors for personal gains, they claimed.
Interacting with media persons at the Suruhohoto designated camp yesterday, Lt. Gen. Niki Sumi and senior CFSB member and Kilonser Hokato Vusshe disclosed that there was absolutely no communication between the Chairman and General Secretary; and that they and others including emissary to the collective leadership Kughalu Mulatonu had to act as the messengers or the go-betweens between the leaders in turns.
In fact, they revealed, the two leaders have never met in person till date and that despite both having telephones there have never been any contact between them. Taking this opportunity some of the leaders’ advisors sowed seeds of mistrust among the two leaders for their personal benefits which ultimately resulted in the expulsion of Khaplang at what they termed a “farcical” emergency meeting of the chairmen of the various regions in presence of some other leaders. The entire process of the impeachment was “stage-managed” and manipulated by the “Khehoi campers” to vote in favor of impeaching and expelling Khaplang, they claimed.
The two leaders also claimed that Khehoi camp has now become nothing more than a safe haven and a commercial centre for people who are interested only in making money. Succumbing to the lure of fast money, these people have lost their interest in the national cause, they said and stated that they have reposed their faith in the leadership and vision of Khaplang.
They also ridiculed allegations by the “Khehoi campers” that they left Khehoi camp and joined forces with Khaplang only for lucrative posts and promotions. Seeking to make his point, Lt. Gen Niki said had he continued being loyal to now Chairman of the organization, Lt. Gen. Khole Konyak and Kitovi, he would have been made Deputy Chief of the Naga Army.
Further, the two leaders claimed that following the latest developments, the Khehoi group is desperately trying to meet Indian leaders to seek ceasefire with the Government of India. The current ceasefire with the Government of India is only with the Khaplang-led NSCN and not with the Khehoi group and following the latest developments, they have been seeking to meet with Indian leaders through the CFSB Chairman to seek ceasefire with GOI, they said adding the Indian leaders have however so far not shown any interest in meeting the group.
