Manipur: Arm and ammunition recovered

Manipur, May 29 (MExN):  A joint operation was launched by the Army with Manipur Police, “on receiving information about suspected movement of armed miscreants” between Kwakta and Sangthong in Bishnupur district, Manipur. ‘During the operation, a Joint Vehicle Checkpost was established on the Kwakta-Sangthong road on May 27. A passenger car was intercepted and apprehended an individual with possession of One M-16 rifle, one pistol and ammunition,’ stated an update received here. The apprehended person along with the recovered items and vehicle were handed over to Manipur Police, it stated.

In another incident, “acting on specific information about the presence of arms and ammunition in the general area Yaripok in Thoubal district of Manipur,” the Army along with AR launched a search operation on May 29 and recovered one 9mm Carbine Machine Gun, one 9mm Pistol, one Double Barrel Gun, six hand grenades, ammunition and other war-like stores. The recovered items were handed over to Manipur Police.
