Masks, hand sanitisers at all public places: Dimapur DC

DIMAPUR, MARCH 12 (MExN): The Dimapur Deputy Commissioner has issued an advisory for various precautionary measures to be taken in view of the COVID-19 pandemic. 


A circular issued by the DC asked people to compulsorily use masks and hand sanitizers in all public places. It directed salespersons, shopkeepers and other persons in contact with high number of people to wear masks. 


The DC’s circular also directed all establishments to keep hand sanitizers available for theirs and for public use. These measures are for urgent and necessary compliance, the circular added. 

 

Shortage reported
Meanwhile, there seemed to be shortage of masks and hand sanitisers in Dimapur as pharmacies attached to several hospitals, including the Dimapur Civil Hospital, had run out of stock. Private run pharmacies saw long lines with people queuing up to buy the items.  Shortage was also reported from the capital Kohima. 


The Dimapur Deputy Commissioner, on being asked whether the shortage was due to hoardings, said that the district administration would conduct checks. He further asked the public to provide information on instances of hoarding and exorbitant charges by reaching out through the helpline numbers.

The DC cautioned that those indulging in such practices would be prosecuted as per the law. 

 

KDTF, DC Mokokchung direct
The Kohima District Task Force (KDTF) meanwhile directed the concerned department to take up the issue of surgical masks and hand sanitizer scarcity with the concerned agencies for price regulation.


The Deputy Commissioner Mokokchung also directed all pharmacies and shops within Mokokchung district to desist from selling surgical masks and hand sanitizers at exorbitant rates. 


Any complaint or report received in the office of the undersigned would be taken seriously and booked under relevant sections of law, informed a notice from the DC. The public have also been notified to register any such complaint to the Inspector, Mokokchung Municipal Council @ 9436601051.
