Mass Comm students showcase creativity at Patkai exhibition

Students visit the exhibition stalls during the 5th Photography Exhibition programme held at the National Service Scheme (NSS) Park, New Campus, Patkai on February 19.

Chümoukedima, February 19 (MExN): The Department of Mass Communication, Patkai Christian College, held its 5th Photography Exhibition on Thursday at the National Service Scheme (NSS) Park, New Campus, Patkai.

The exhibition, themed “Language of Colours in Silent Geometry,” forms part of the academic curriculum for second-semester BA Mass Communication students.

A total of 24 photographs exhibited during the event were sold, with 13 frames purchased within the first hour of the exhibition’s opening.

The event witnessed an impressive turnout, with over 300 faculty members, students and well-wishers formally registering their attendance.

Proceeds from the exhibition will be used to support the sixth edition of the 3-Day Campus Film Festival, scheduled to be held next year and to be organised by the same batch of the Mass Communication department.

Earlier in the day, Controller of Examinations (COE) Akangsenla inaugurated the exhibition and described it as a valuable platform for students to express their individuality and creativity.

“Photography is not just academic work but a true form of art and creative expression,” she said, adding that the event provided students an opportunity to share their unique vision and move beyond classroom learning.

The exhibition aimed to encourage appreciation of the world around us. Explaining the concept behind the theme, event manager and second-semester Mass Communication student Therali Kithan said that colours and structures carry unspoken truths and meanings.

An interactive session during the event allowed attendees to engage directly with the student artists, ask questions and gain deeper insights into the stories behind each photograph.
