Mass Social Work conducted across Nagaland

Kohima, August 12 (MExN): As part of the State wide social work, the Kohima District Administration along with Kohima Municipal Council carried out social work on August 11 starting from 7:00 am. The social work was conducted in and around the town and in all the 19 wards by involving various Government departments, ward panchayats and other organisations. The District Administration led by Deputy Commissioner Kohima, Rajesh Soundararajan IAS inspected the social work in and around the town.  

Medziphema

An initiative of the State Government, social work was conducted at Medziphema Sub-Division for the forth coming Independence Day celebration. The mass social work began at 7 A.M. All the government departments, private organizations and individuals took part. Clearing of drainage, foliage and dirt in the ward and colonies were assisted by the Gaon Buras and Dobashis. Offices were also cleaned by the staff of departments. Mini trucks of Medziphema Town Council helped in disposing the garbage.  

Peren

Peren district conducted mass social work on 11th August 2018 in all the villages and towns. The program was organized as directed by the state government to keep the district clean. During the mass social work, all the residents both government servants and general public participated.  

Kiphire

Kiphire District under foggy weather actively participated in the mass social work held on 11th August 2018. Departments actively participated in mass social work cleaning their respective office premises. Guest house colony Kiphire also actively involved in the mass social work collecting the garbages on the road side and disposing them off. The Kiphire denizens took serious note to create good environment and surrounding as per the direction of the State Government.  

Zunheboto Mass social work was held at Zunheboto under the supervision of District Administration where the public participated and cleaned their colonies and surroundings and the government staff in the district also cleaned their respective office premises.  

Wokha

In view of the forthcoming Independence Day celebration, Wokha district conducted mass social, district government employees and general public participated in the social work in large number. It was conducted under the supervision of the District Administration led by DC Wokha, Dr. Manazir Jeelani Samoon, IAS who visited almost all the offices, colleges, schools, colonies and wards to monitor the progress of the work.  

The main objective of the social work was to clear the drainages, foliage for a clean Wokha. Mechanical Department and PWD (R&B) Wokha provided one JCB, Town Council provided dumper trucks and pick-up, and both PHED and DEF Wokha provided trucks to pick up the waste materials.  

Schools and colleges took part in cleaning their respective premises and roads leading to their institutions. Police and SDRF assisted the Department of Fisheries & Aquatic Resources in cleaning and beautification of Tsumang Lake. Garbage pickup spots were identified at different locations in all colonies for picking up the garbages.  

DC Wokha appealed to all the public to discourage use of plastic bags and not to throw plastic materials as it blogs the drainage system.  

DC also stated that, Wokha being declared 2018 as ‘Year of Cleanliness’ with the theme “Clean Wokha-Beautiful Wokha”, cleanliness drive/ Social work will continue to be conducted from time to time in the days to come.  

Bhandari

Bhandari Sub divison, in response to the call for State-wide Social work by Urban Development, Nagaland and in preparation for the upcoming Independence Day celebration, conducted a mass social work under the supervision of ADC Bhandari, Tiameren Chang.  

During the one-day social work, road side blocked drainages, water logged areas and minor landslides within the town were cleared by the public with assistance by a JCB.  

Besides filling up the potholes and jungle clearing along the road stretches, garbage disposal in the colonies were also carried out. Head of Offices along with GBs were assigned with specific areas to supervise the work.
