Dimapur Police Commissioner Aotula T Imchen urged students to embrace humility, discipline, and authenticity to navigate a competitive world, while addressing them as the special invitee at the Mayangnokcha Award ceremony.

Reflecting on her own experience of receiving the award in 2005, Imchen described it as a “trophy of faith” and courage that had a lasting impact on her.

She stated that the greatest achievements in life often come without external recognition. “While the world may insist on being the smartest, true wisdom lies in seeking out spaces and people who challenge beliefs,” the IPS officer said, adding that “humility sharpens intelligence, not diminishes it.”

Encouraging the students, she said failure is an inevitable part of life and that self-motivation is crucial for overcoming setbacks. She called for a new generation that is “traditionally rooted yet possesses modern creativity,” and prioritizes inclusive growth.

The Commissioner emphasised the importance of developing character, integrity, and empathy. She advised students to prioritise health, constantly acquire knowledge, and embrace discipline “not as a restriction, but as a path to freedom.” She also stressed the importance of prayer.

She congratulated the award recipients and acknowledged the hard work of the students and the support of their parents and teachers.

Imchen also thanked the Mayangnokcha Award trustees for carrying forward the legacy of a “visionary who believed in education's transformative power.”

Earlier, the programme started with invocation by Fr Renthungo N. Odyuo, Principal, Holy Cross Higher Secondary School, followed by address from Er Moa Aier, Trustee of the Mayangnokcha Award Trust (MAT), who highlighted the legacy of the Trust since its inception in 1993 and its role in motivating generations of students across the state.

The event concluded with a Prayer of Blessing by Imnatoshi Longkumer, Associate Pastor of DABA.
