Measles-Rubella vaccination sensitization prog at Aghunato

Aghunato, August 31 (MExN): Preparation for the upcoming Measles-Rubella vaccination, sensitization programme was held at Aghunato town on August 28.  

According to DIPR report, during the occasion, DPO (RCH & UIP), Dr. Alemwabang Aier said that the Vaccination for Measles - Rubella (MR) is a nationwide programme to immunize the children in the age group from 09 months to 15 years. And he also added that this is the most expensive programme ever undertaken by the Government in order to eradicate measles - rubella (MR) completely by the year 2020.  

Aier further informed that it is a high standard vaccination and safe and can prevent various diseases with a single injection. Other states in the north-east i.e. Mizoram and Arunachal have completed and our state is commencing from first week of October 2018. He said that the administration, GBs, teachers, ASHAs and departments as a team will be carrying out the programme. He appreciated high turn up of people in the programme.  

Dr. Puloto stated that normally around 2000 (two thousand) patients receive treatment from CHC Aghunato annually. But in the current year, number of treated patients has risen to more than one thousand within three months. And most of the measles patients were unvaccinated children. Dr. Puloto informed the gathering to have concern and bring the children for treatment at an early stage. He also requested the GBS, VCCs and teachers to furnish only the exact number of students to the Government, while submitting the names for immunization. He said that most of the villages/VCC/teachers are in the habit of submitting excess names of students and causing problems.  

ADC, T. Nchumbemo Odyuo in his message said that children have the right to grow up healthy in all walks of life. Untreated child gets infected with many diseases; some even get disabled later in their life. Regarding to preparedness for forthcoming vaccination programme, he encouraged the gathering to have concern and see that all the children under Aghunato gets properly immunized. “Let's not miss out a single child,” ADC said.
