Mokokchung: One-day workshop on district measles surveillance was held at Mokokchung on May 13 at IDSP Hall, Imkongliba Memorial District Hospital.
CMO Mokokchung Dr. SS Akaba Longchar in his keynote address said that Measles is a highly contagious viral disease whose common complication includes pneumonia and diarrhoea. Therefore inorder to eradicate this disease from our state he urged the Doctors and Nurses to re-orient themselves, work hard and coordinate in their posting places.
The resource persons were Dr. Sheila Surveillance Medical Officer (SMO) from WHO and Dr. Limatula Aier DPO RCH& UIP Mokokchung. The main objective of the workshop is to eliminate the measles from India and to reduce the mortality. This is a new programme to be implemented in our state. The resource persons highlighted on the core strategies for elimination of measles from India. It include routine and supplementary immunization activities, sensitive and timely case based surveillance and access to an accredited laboratory to confirm suspected cases and detect virus. All the health workers were informed to sensitize it in their respective centres.
CMO, Dy. CMO, SMOs, MOs, health workers, and BPMs from all the CHC, PHC and Sub-centres attended the workshop.
