Merchandise worth lakhs destroyed in fire, says Citykart

Dimapur, August 3 (MExN): A fire that occurred in one of the CityKart shopping malls in Dimapur on August 1 evening has resulted in damage of merchandise worth around Rs 60 lakh as well as fixtures worth about Rs 50 lakh, stated the mall management.  

The reports on fire incident were submitted to Officer in-charge of West Police Station, Dimapur and the Officer in-charge of Fire Station, Dimapur respectively.  

The incident report, appended by Citykart Manager, said that the fire at the mall which occurred at around 8:45 pm on the first floor of the shop damaged “most of the merchandise as well as fixtures.”  

It further stated that the timely intervention of the fire brigade has helped to avoid serious damage to the shop as well as the building.  

Meanwhile, the police said that while the cause of fire could not be ascertained, they are suspecting it to be a case of short circuit.  

The NSDMA included the same in its ‘situation report’ from Dimapur on August 2.
