Dimapur, November 2 (MExN): The Red Ribbon Club (RRC) of MGM College, Dimapur, conducted an awareness programme on blood donation, cancer, and HIV/AIDS on November 1.

In a press release issued by the club, it stated that the programme was aimed to sensitise students on crucial health issues while fostering empathy, responsible citizenship and proactive engagement in community health initiatives.

Dr. Nito Yeptho, Head of Department of Transfusion Medicine and Blood Centre Officer, Christian Institute of Health Sciences and Research (CIHSR), explained a scientific and practical understanding of the life-saving value of blood donation, underscoring that blood cannot be manufactured but can only come from generous donors, it stated.

Likewise, it stated that Yeptho also addressed the prevalent myths and stressed the urgent need for regular voluntary donors to sustain healthcare systems and to save lives.

At the same time, it stated that Bendangtemsula, Counselor at CIHSR, shaded light on the psychosocial challenges faced by individuals living with HIV/AIDS and the importance of empathy and community support in their care.

Furthermore, it stated that the programme was followed by an interactive question and answer session in which students raised pertinent questions and participated in meaningful dialogue with the resource persons.
