MGOS Church celebrates feast of its patron Saint Gregorios

Dimapur, November 18 (MExN): The Mar Gregorios Orthodox Syrian Church (MGOS) Church, Dimapur celebrated the 119th feast of its patron Saint Gregorios of Parumala on November 13 and 14.

A press release by MGOS’ Media Cell informed that it started with a evening prayer on November 13 where spiritual discourse was given by Rev Fr Dr PS Varghese, Vicar MGOS Church, Dimapur. On November 14, there was a morning prayer followed by Holy Qurbana.  

On the sidelines, a public meeting was also organized where HSLC 2021 State topper (17th Rank) Amina Begum of MGM Higher Secondary School along with school’s HSSLC toppers in Arts, Commerce and Science stream, MGM College toppers as well as their subject teachers were felicitated also with Bishop Mar Theodosius meritorious award and cash prizes,

At the event, Rev Dr Varghese welcomed the gathering and delivered the Presidential address, while Er.Renji Thomas proposed the vote of thanks. 

The main highlights of the programme included Bible reading, song presentations by Dimapur and Kohima Sunday School students and MGM hostellers, the release said. 

A felicitation address was delivered by VA Jose, President of Kerala Samajam Dimapur while Geevarghese, a senior church member of Kohima congregation gave a short speech.  

Members of the Malayali community from several places like Jorhat, Tinsukia, Kohima and various parts of Nagaland attended the feast.

The Church feast programme ended with auction, love feast and lowering of the flag while gifts were distributed to all the students, it added.
