Micro irrigation project launched in Zunheboto

Zunheboto, April 12 (MExN): The Department of Water Resources launched the Kapoki Micro Irrigation  project at Zunheboto on April 10, under the Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchayee Yojana (PMKSY)- Har Khet Ko Pani 270 batch.

The project is implemented under the Ministry of Jal Shakti (MoWR, RD&GR) with an estimated cost of Rs 94,06,880, a DIPR report stated on Monday. The work commenced in 2018-19 and was completed in 2019-20. 

According to the DIPR, with the construction of this project and the improved irrigation facilities, farmers can now undertake multiple cropping. The project was implemented with active participation of the farmers to promote participatory irrigation management (PIM) in the irrigation system. As has been the practice of the Department, the completed project will be handed over to the beneficiaries for use and future maintenance, it added.

The programme was chaired by WRD Executive Engineer Huskha Yeptho, and Zunheboto Deputy Commissioner Peter Lichamo was the special guest, the DIPR report stated.
