DIMAPUR, OCTOBER 19 (MExN): The Military Supervisor of the Peoples Army of Nagaland NSCN/GPRN Lt Gen Niki Sumi has stated that it should not be held accountable for “inevitable retaliation in equal measures” and that “any internecine killings while in the act of defence or offence by us henceforth needed to be viewed as forced by Khehoi and not willful”.
In this regard the NSCN/GPRN Khaplang has sought clarification from the Forum for Naga Reconciliation (FNR) as to “whether Khehoi Camp is a part of the Covenant of Reconciliation (COR) or outside its purview”. “What are the suggestions or actions on the part of FNR to restrain Khehoi Camp from committing violation of the Peace Covenant?” the Military Supervisor queried in his press note.
According to the Military Supervisor “combative temptation and martial unrest is becoming an issue of major concern in the Peoples Army formation owing to several unprovoked attack of comrades and compatriots at the hands of Khehoi Camp”. It was disclosed that “more than Ten (10) NSCN/GPRN cadres has become victims of such insensitivity causing severe trepidation and annoyance to the NSCN endeavour of real reconciliation through compassion and humanitarian approach”.
It was stated that “despite such unfavourable tendencies”, the FNR was still expected to play a “very crucial role of not only umpiring the on-going peace summits but to also constantly interject, monitor and ensure balancing act against any unwanted tilting”. According to the Military Supervisor the “most critical intervention that is promptly required of FNR in order to prevent relapse to bloody conflagration in particular is the unilateral abrogation of COR by Khehoi Campers through indulgence in provocative acts of arrests of NSCN/GPRN members, abduction and forced enrolment to its camp, seizure of Govt. properties, forceful confinement etc and which has become almost a routine affair”.
