Minister Kashiho calls for social harmony and peaceful coexistenc

DIMAPUR, NOVEMBER 21 (MExN): A four-day official tour of V Kashiho Sangtam, Minister for Soil & Water Conservation, Geology & Mining and NSMDC concluded at Amahator Hq on November 20. He was accompanied by his wife and Subenthung Kithan, Vice President, BJP & Kiphire Incharge and a host of party workers. 

During the tour, the Minister shared his visions and programmes for overall development in the constituency, in particular 59th Assembly Constituency, which is inhabited by various tribes. As such, social harmony and peaceful coexistence is the first and foremost thing required for any kind of development, he stated.  He encouraged the people to inculcate a sense of brotherhood by fostering peace and unity. 

He further stated that the UDA Government has a far sighted vision to bring changes and development in all sectors in the state. Due to outbreak of the global pandemic, for the last two years, various government programmes and policies couldn’t be made materialized, the Minister informed, but maintained that with the tireless efforts put forth by all the frontline workers ed by the Medical Department,the pandemic is subsiding.

The Minister, meanwhile, cautioned people that COVID-19 pandemic is far from over and therefore, the only remedy is to take the vaccine. 

He, However, expressed concern that Kiphire District was at the bottom of the vaccination percentage in the State and encouraged the people to take the vaccine and to be responsible and cooperate with the Health Department in educating people on the the importance of vaccination. 

He also stated that many proposals, programs, schemes and projects are in the queue and sought cooperation and support from all the stake holders, public and land owners. “We need good roads, health facilities, drinking water facilities etc but for this we also need land and mass participation,” he added. 

Discouraging the mindset of compensation, easy money etc, he added: “Any development activities taken up by the Government is for the welfare of the people; the Government will not take away anything when the development is done. We should have a sense of belongings and ownership. 

On employment sector, he informed that Nagaland has the highest employment percentage compared to other big states in the country. Around 75% of the state’s total budget share is utilized for Government employee salary, he informed, and encouraged the educated unemployed to have a competitive mindset. 

The Minister also inaugurated the rostrum at Longmatra Hq constructed under LADP Iconic Projcet; flagged off an ambulance for PHS Seyochung donated by the OICL through CSR and inaugurated a road connecting Old Resithsi and Yingshikur Village, constructed and managed through the Minister’s 'personal arrangement.'
