DIMAPUR, NOVEMBER 23 (MExN): In a belated report reaching here, a minor girl, aged 13 years and studying in class 5 was allegedly raped by a Myanmar tatmadaw (military personnel) in broad daylight on November 10 at Lahe, HQ Town of Naga Self Administered Zone, Upper Sagaing Division, Myanmar.
The Naga Students and Youth Federation (NSYF) president, Thongtsühmiu Jongs Isidore in a press release through its media cell vehemently condemned the “cruel act of Myanmar military personnel” and said it “stands by the rights of the victims until justice is delivered as per the existing law.”
It also stated that on hearing the incident, the NSYF, its executive council members along with tribal based civil society organizations rushed to the spot on a fact finding mission.
The NSYF also cautioned that “delay or failing to deliver justice may lead to unwanted circumstances among ethnic minorities and the government.”
