Health tests being conducted during the awareness programme.
Kohima, September 23 (MExN): The Modern Institute of Teacher Education (MITE) conducted a series of events focusing on health awareness and peace on September 20 and 21. The Red Ribbon Club of MITE organized an HIV/AIDS awareness program under the theme "Silence equals death: Speak out, get tested, save lives," featuring Aosangla Imchen, a counselor from the Mobile Integrated Counseling and Testing Centre, Kohima, as the resource person. She was joined by her team and Link Workers from the Kripa Foundation.
Imchen educated the student-teachers on the various modes of HIV & AIDS transmission and stressed the importance of early detection and treatment. She encouraged them to break free from the stigma surrounding the disease and take proactive steps in the fight against HIV & AIDS.
To further raise awareness, a slogan competition was held, with prizes sponsored by the Link Worker Scheme of Kripa Foundation. Following the event, a free counseling and testing session for HIV & AIDS and Hepatitis B&C was organized, benefiting 63 student-teachers.
The Red Ribbon Club at MITE is dedicated to promoting awareness about HIV & AIDS and advocating for preventive measures to build a healthier and more informed society.
On September 21, MITE celebrated International Peace Day with a series of activities organized by the Current Event and Ecological Clubs. The event featured a motivational address by Dr HL Gangte, Vice Principal of the institute, who highlighted the significance of peace and urged student-teachers to incorporate its principles into their personal and professional lives.
