Kohima, October 5 (MExN): The Chief Electoral Officer, Nagaland, Abhijit Sinha, IAS has informed that the Model Code of Conduct has come into force in entire Kohima district except for the areas under Kohima Municipal Council other than Ward No. 5, Kitsubozou (Chotobosti), and in the entire Kiphire district. It will be in force till the completion of the election process.
Regarding this the release of funds under the MPs/MLAs Local Area Development Scheme will be subject to restrictions as per the ECI order, the CEO Nagaland notified in an order.
The order comes following the announcement of the Election Commission of India (ECI) of the schedule for holding bye-election to fill the casual vacancies in the Nagaland Legislative Assembly from 14- Southern Angami- I (ST) AC and 60- Pungro- Kiphire (ST) AC.
Requisition of vehicles for election
In pursuance of Section 166 of the RP Act 1951, the power conferred to theState Government under Section 160 to 165 of the RP Act 1951, the Chief Secretary Nagaland has delegated to the Deputy Commissioner & District Election Officer, Kohima and Kiphire to act on behalf of the State Government for requisitioning of Vehicles, premises, etc for the conduct of Bye- Election to 14-Southern Angami-I(ST) and 60-Pungro, Kiphire (ST) Assembly Constituency, 2020.
Any vehicle, premises etc belonging to private person or institution/organization shall be entitled for compensation under Sec. 161 of the RP Act 1951.
