Modern College conducts Faculty Development Prog on ‘mentoring’

Kohima, September 10 (MExN): Modern College, Kohima organized a one-day Faculty Development Programme (FDP) on the ‘importance of mentoring’ on September 10.

A press release from the college stated that the resource persons of the day were Dr. Ranjan Kumar Behera, Dean of Academics, St Joseph University, Dimapur, Nagaland and Fr (Dr) Peter Salew, SDB, Youth Ministry Delegate, Province of Dimapur.

Dr Ranjan Kumar Behara spoke largely on the general basics of mentoring from the secular perspective. He also emphasized on how the mentors can guide and help navigate their mentees to achieve their professional journey. Fr (Dr) Peter Salew, SDB shared on the mentoring process in Don Bosco’s Way. He emphasized on the need to develop trust, confidence, dignity and respect of every student.  He also shared on the four dimensions of mentoring such as educational and cultural, spiritual primacy, social experience and vocational dimension.

The objective of the programme was to bridge the gap between the mentors and mentees so that mentors will become an effective partner, a helper and a friend in realizing their full potential and become responsible citizens.

The programme was moderated by John Besü while Keleseno Longkumer was the recorder of the proceedings.  Altogether 38 members participated.
