As a fourth pillar of democracy, The Morung Express is not just a newspaper per se. It began as an idea rooted in values of a shared humanity – justice and peace, freedom, inclusivity, equality, reconciliation, acceptance and dignity - that continues to evolve today. The Morung Express believes that creating an inclusive, just and harmonious society is a shared responsibility.
For this reason, The Morung Express supports open dialogue on ideas, perspectives and issues that are vital for the people to stay engaged and in relationship with each other. Over the years, the newspaper has initiated The Morung Lecture, The Morung Debate, The Morung Dialogue and The Morung Sing for Peace to nurture critical consciousness and impact public opinion which enables transformational action that ultimately open spaces where sustainable democracy and JustPeace can thrive.
The Morung Express is introducing The Morung Peacebuilding and Conflict Transformation Course. This will be a two-day elicitive participatory course introducing Conflict Transformation. The shared experiential learning community of co-learners will be guided by a facilitator who will stimulate learning using various approaches. During the course the learning community will rely on interactive group work where the participants’ practical knowledge and field experience will shape the conversation and dialogue.
The Morung Peacebuilding and Conflict Transformation Course will be offered once every 3 months. There will be a nominal registration fee of Rs 500/- (Rupees Five Hundred) for the shortlisted participants. Every course will have a maximum of only 20 participants, and a certificate of completion will be given to all those that attend the entire training.
