Officials who facilitated the green audit at Modern College, Piphema.
PIPHEMA, DECEMBER 11 (MExN): Modern College, Piphema, conducted its inaugural Green Audit on December 11, in collaboration with the Nagaland Pollution Control Board (NPCB). Organised by the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of the college, the audit aimed to evaluate the institution’s efforts towards maintaining an eco-friendly and pollution-free campus.
The audit was carried out by a team of four officials from the NPCB, including Er. Aghali A Swu, Senior Environmental Engineer, who was accompanied by Er. Kevisede Pucho, Assistant Environmental Engineer; Moakumzuk Jamir, Data Entry Operator; and Sentinaro, Senior Scientific Assistant. The officials inspected various campus initiatives promoting environmental conservation and sustainability.
Dr Dandesh Kumar, Principal Investigator of the college’s Botanical Garden, briefed the team on efforts to preserve endangered plant species, as well as practices such as vermicomposting and rainwater harvesting within the conserved area.
The NPCB officials also assessed waste management practices in the hostels and the college cafeteria. Additionally, water samples, both filtered and unfiltered, were collected for testing, and the campus is currently undergoing an air quality assessment.
