Mokokchung: Caution against directive preventing entry of frontline workers

Mokokchung, July 1 (MExN): The office of the Deputy Commissioner of Mokokchung today stated that District Administration and District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) have noticed that some village and ward authorities in Mokokchung have issued prohibitory directives preventing the entry of medical staff, health workers and frontline workers into respective wards. 


“The laid down protocol, guidelines and SOP for medical staff, health workers and frontline workers on COVID-19 duty is strictly observed,” said DC Mokokchung, Limawabang Jamir in an order issued on July 1. 


Stating that “such unauthorized obstruction is a clear violation of laid down Government Orders and directives and infringements on individual rights and an offence punishable, ” the DC said, “strict legal action will be initiated against any village or ward authorities obstructing the entry of medical staff, health workers and frontline workers.” 

 

Need for prior permission

Meanwhile, in another order, the DC directed that ‘no individual, institution or organization will use any print or electronic media for information regarding COVID-19 without prior permission from recognized authority’.

 

No disclosure of identity 

The DC also observed during the current COVID-19 pandemic, the identity of the people affected by the disease or suspected to be a positive case are exposed and circulated in social media.

 
“Therefore, anyone who exposes the identity of COVID-19 affected people through sharing of bio-data or photo in various print and electronic media shall be penalized under section 188 of the Indian Penal Code 1860,” the DC cautioned.
