Mokokchung, August 18 (MExN): The Deputy Commissioner of Mokokchung, Ajit Kumar Verma, IAS, has constituted a Board of Administrators to take over the management of the Principal Market Yard, until a permanent Market Committee is formed.
The Board, which will function under the overall supervision of the Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Mokokchung, has been set up in compliance with the provisions of the Nagaland Agricultural Produce and Livestock Marketing Act, 2020. The ADC will serve as the Convenor and Chief Administrator of the interim body, while District Agriculture Officer Dr Lanunochetla has been named as the Co-convenor.
Other members of the Board include I Panger Longkumer (Chairman, APMC Mokokchung), Temjenmenla (District Horticulture Officer), Dr Tiachuba Jamir (Chief Veterinary Officer), T. Tatong Longchar (District Fishery Officer), the Assistant Registrar of Cooperative Societies, Mokokchung, Asang Aier, Kilangtoshi, Suputoshi, Akangmeren, L Yanger, Nukshi I Ozukum, Bendangnukshi Walling, Nathan Ozukum, Mapuakam Kichu, Imrongkumba, Tiarenla, and Ojintsungba.
The Board has been vested with all powers and duties of the First Market Committee under the Act, including the regulation of marketing activities within the designated market area, maintenance of records, accounts and assets, and recommendation of measures for strengthening agricultural marketing infrastructure. The interim body is required to submit progress reports to the Deputy Commissioner on a monthly and quarterly basis for review.
