Mon, October 19 (MExN): Konyak Bumeinok Bangjum (KBB), Youth Ministry in collaboration with Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan, Mon held a training of youth directors on ‘Yes to Life’ with DC Mon, Thavaseelan K, IAS as special guest at Mission Center, Mon Church on October 19.
The DC Mon said that ‘Yes to Life’ will be a youth centric club with the aim to promote a healthy, addiction-free lifestyle.
The club through activities like discussions, awareness programmes, sports, traditional activities and other social and religious programmes will act as a means to encourage each other to lead clean and healthy lives.
Studies have shown that negative messaging is less likely to scare people from indulging in addictive substances. The members have decided to lead an addiction free life, will act as a positive reinforcement for their peers in the communities. The members through meeting, sharing or interactions, counselling can also encourage one another to overcome temptations and keep true to their pledge members of this club can also be nurtured and taught life skills, communication skills, leadership skills, through various activities at the village, sub divisional and district levels thereby grooming them to become productive members of the society.
The youth directors of the villages and towns will be given responsibility as the supervisors of ‘Yes to Life’ club. The supervisor once trained will initiated the formation of the clubs in their village and town with the support of the village council, various civil bodies like students union and faith based on the colonies, khels or morung to ensure closeness and feeling of oneness within the members from the same locality.
A DIPR report stated that the programme was chaired by Wangchah, youth secretary, KBBB and Rev Metjen, finance secretary, KBBB as opening prayer while Dr Chenjei Konyak convenor CoDAMP as a brief introduction of ‘Yes to Life’ and short speech by Rev M Chemyuh, Executive Secretary, KBBB.
