Mon dist level coordination committee holds meeting

Mon, March 24 (MExN): District Level Coordination Committee (DLCC) Mon under National Tobacco Control Programme (NTCP) held its review meeting on March 23 at DC’s Conference Hall, Mon.

Four schools were declared as tobacco free institutions i.e. St John's Higher Secondary School, Little Flower School, Christ King School and Don Bosco Higher Secondary School Mon. 

To create awareness on the ill effects of tobacco, the members decided to initially reach out to all the Sub Divisions of Mon District and later to the village level. It was also decided that committees would be constituted in all the sub divisions for effective implementation of NTCP. Further, all schools in the district would be given time till the May 31 to become tobacco free. The house also agreed to increase the frequency of enforcement drives so that COPTA 2003 is implemented in letter and spirit. 

The meeting was chaired by DC Mon Thavaseelan K IAS.
