Mon, May 16 (MExN): The Mon District Planning & Development Board felicitated three HSLC Toppers namely Khoalam of Eklavya Model Residential School of Tizit (36th Rank), Loipong of St. Mary School, Mon (46th) and Thromfee Sathai of Christ King School, Mon (49th) and also three schools, namely, Little Flower School Mon, Holy Angel’s School Tizit and Eklavya School Tizit, for securing cent percent pass results in the HSLC examinations 2014.
The Deputy Commissioner, Mon Angau I Thou, IAS while congratulating the Toppers and the Schools called upon the principals and teachers to continue to work hard to impart quality education. She emphasized that in order to provide quality education it requires equal contributions and responsibility of both teachers and parents besides hard work from the students and added that without encouragement and changing the education pattern in the district, Mon will not move forward.
Dismayed at the poor performance of the Government Schools in the district the DC questioned if the programmes under SSA are being properly implemented in the government schools. She urged upon the DEO and SDEOs of the district to look into the issue with all seriousness for quality education in government schools. She denied the notion that government schools have poor and weak students and further asserted that government schools have the best teachers.
The DC also gave away Rs. 10000/- each along with certificates to the three toppers and Rs. 5000/- each with certificates to the Schools securing cent percent passed result.
Sharing their ambitions with the board the three toppers said that the God’s grace, proper guidance from the teachers, encouragement from parents and their personal hard works are behind their success.
Later, a DPDB meeting commenced under the chairmanship of the DC. The agenda discussed in the meeting were: Opening of new school Amity at Lapa Lampong; ISC road status report for construction of road from Tizit to Nokzang via Yanpan, Sakho and Loakun; Restoration of water supply and proper road connection to Wangkhao College; Upgradation of Aboi Public School to class- 9 (Nine); Providing Laptop for Pastoral Ministry Mon Town; Grant-in-Aid to Mount High School, Aboi; Upgradation of Longsa hill School to Class- X (Ten) and Power connection to GHSS, Aboi.
The board also had a lengthy discussion on the irregularity of Government employees especially the teachers in the GHSS Mon, who were found absent during the joint surprise checking conducted by the Konyak Students Union and the Administration.
