A programme for unveiling of monolith in honour of Kachuno Ritse Angami of Pfutseromi was held today at Tshushenumi Rikhube, Pfutseromi village in Phek district.
Kachuno Ritse Angami was appointed as (Dobashi) interpreter by Dr GH Hutton, CIE, ICS, Deputy Commissioner, Naga Hills, Hqrs Kohima during 1917 - 1935.
Kachuno Ritse Angami was one of the signatories of Naga Memorandum submitted to the Simon Commission by the Naga bearing the name of Naga Club along with other 20 signatories on 10th January 1929, where, he has been acknowledged during the Centenary celebration of Naga Club.
Mikha Kenye, president Chakhesang Public Organization (CPO) graced the occasion as the special guest and unveiled the monolith in the presence of T. Mhabemo Yanthan, Commissioner Secretary to Nagaland’s Governor, Sarah R. Ritse Commissioner Secretary, Social Welfare, Nagaland, Martha Ritse, Secretary Land Resources, Nagaland, Wepretso Mero, Retd. Commissioner Secretary, Wepe Ritse, Retd. Registrar of Co-operatives, Kekhwenulo Lea, former president CPO, Neikhwetso Mero, president KKTPO, Neingulie Khupfu, president Pfutsero Town ZAPO.
Speaking on the occasion, Kenye acknowledged the Village Council and the Ritse Clan of Pfutseromi for taking initiative to preserve the historic event.
He also highlighted on the famous saying “history belongs to the winners” and expressed that due recognition and gratitude should be given to the champions.
He also expressed the need to uphold the integrity and honesty among the community for a better future.
Earlier, a brief history of Kachuno Ritse were shared by W.K. Ritse, former VCC of Pfutseromi and Wepretso Mero, Retd. Commissioner & Secretary, Nagaland on behalf of Ritsenumi Clan and on behalf of the Pfutseromi Village respectively.
The program was led by Lhiwepelo Ritse, chairman, Village Council, Pfutseromi while vote of thanks was proposed by Zekozo Mero, Secretary Village Council, Pfutseromi.
