Dimapur, August 5 (MExN): The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) state unit expressing deep concern over the continuous heavy rains causing immense hardships and inconveniences all over the state has appealed all to remain calm.
It further appealed the public to extend its cooperation to various machineries tirelessly battling the hard situation, carrying out relief and rehabilitation operations in the affected areas, a press note from Media Cell, BJP Nagaland stated.
In this connection, the BJP legislators of the state will be contributing one month salary in aid of the people affected by unfortunate natural disaster in the state,” it said.
“This is in conformity with the BLP leader & Dy. Chief Minister Y.Patton and Party President & Minister Temjen Imna Along who is stationed in Delhi,” the release further mentioned.
Meanwhile, appreciating the Minister of State (MoS) for Home Kiren Rijiju representing the central team for assuring all supports from the centre, it further lauded the team for undertaking aerial survey of the damaged areas by floods and landslides in the state at Kohima, Meluri, Kiphire and Doyang Dam today.
The release also apprised that the team was accompanied by Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio.
The state BJP unit in this regard appealed the central government to urgently intervene with “more assistance since the state has inadequate resources and machineries to meet the needs.”
The party also appreciated the Central team consisting of 35 rescuers from National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) who are already deployed in Nagaland to assist the state administration in the relief and rescue measures, distribution of essential material and providing medical support to the affected people and two Air force helicopters deployed in the state for the same purpose.
