Dimapur, December 12 (MExN): Following the demise of NCD President Ghokheto Chophy on December 11, various organizations on Saturday offered condolences to the bereaved family members and prayed for the departed soul to rest in peace.
JCPI: The Joint Committee for Prevention of Illegal Immigrants (JCPI) grieved the demise of its leader and Convenor,
Ghokheto Chophy. Since the inception of JCPI in 2017 until his death he led the Committee towards its goals and objectives, the Committee stated. The JCPI, a conglomeration of 28 civil bodies and organizations has also been instrumental to make the Government of Nagaland declare Dimapur as ILP zone. It was under his able leadership that during the crisis of CAA, the North East Forum for Indigenous People (NEFIP) was formed to deal with emerging challenges of illegal immigrants issue in the North Eastern region, it added. “…his legacy of courage, dynamism, dedication, foresightedness, honesty, magnanimity and selfless sacrifice for the cause of the people will be etched in our hearts and we will continue to carry forward the objectives of the Committee,” it conveyed.
Naga Hoho: The Naga Hoho stated that it is deeply pained and shocked by the demise of the NCD President. He was resolute and sincerely worked for the upliftment and welfare of the people. During his life, he served the people in various capacities with utmost sincerity. His passing away is a great loss for the Naga people, the Naga Hoho stated in its message on Saturday.
GBs Union Dimapur: The GBs union Dimapur expressed grief at the demise of late Ghokheto Chophy and stated that “he was active, sincere and a dedicated person committed towards the welfare of the society.” His demise has left a huge vacuum not only for the citizens of Dimapur but also for the Nagas as a whole, it added.
DDGBA: The Dimapur District GBs Association (DDBBA) conveyed its condolence to the bereaved family of late Ghokheto on Saturday. Khehovi V Chophy, DDGBA President stated that the Association is deeply saddened by the demise of a leader who always stood upright and firm for what was right. It is a matter of great loss not only for the people of Dimapur but for Nagas in general, he added.
NPF Minority Wing: The Naga Peoples Front (NPF) Minority Wing expressed pain at the demise of the NCD President and stated that late Ghokheto Chophy was a visionary leader who contributed immensely to the society. “We have lost a committed leader and good human being,” it added.
WSYF: The Western Sumi Youth Front (WSYF) expressed shock at the demise of Ghokheto Chophy and described late Chophy as a man of integrity and a true Naga leader.
YUD: The Yimchungrü Union Dimapur (YUD) expressed deep sorrow and sadness over the demise of Ghokheto Chophy. The Union described him as a man of dedication and courage and stated that he would be remembered for his dedicated social service till his last breath, especially by the citizens of Dimapur.
KTC: The Kachari Tribal Council (KTC) Nagaland expressed grief at the NCD President’s demise and stated that “…we have lost a good and capable leader who has always worked and stood for the rights and welfare of the people in Dimapur and the whole society in general.”
Anal Hoho Dimapur: The Anal Hoho Dimapur paid tribute to the late NCD President and remembered him as someone who had special love and concern for the Anals, a minority community in Dimapur. “We saw Naga fraternity and equality in his leadership as Councillor, Vice President and President of Naga Council Dimapur,” the Anal Hoho stated.
DCCI: The Dimapur Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI) on Saturday described late Ghokheto Chophy as an active and committed social worker, a trustworthy leader and someone who was always ready to lend a helping hand to others. In his demise, the citizens of Dimapur and especially DCCI have lost a down-to-earth leader and the vacuum created will be difficult to fill in, it wrote.
Hindu Yuva Sanga: The Hindu Yuva Sanga offered its deepest condolences to the family of late Ghokheto Chophy, and conveyed its sorrow at the demise of a great leader.
ENPUD: The Eastern Nagaland People’s Union Dimapur (ENPUD) expressed deep grief over the demise of NCD President and JCPI Convenor Ghokheto Chophy. The Union stated that Late Chophy was a courageous and capable leader, who stood for the rights of the citizens of Dimapur and worked for the welfare of the society at large.
NWHD: The Naga Women Hoho Dimapur (NWHD) expressed profound grief at the passing of late Ghokheto and described him as fine leader. The society has lost a good man and an eminent leader, the Hoho wrote. “His valuable contribution to the society will always be cherished and the void created by his demise will always be felt,” it added.
Tangkhul Union Dimapur: The Tangkhul Union Dimapur stated that late Chophy had had rendered enormous services to the people of Dimapur and expressed sadness at his demise. It described him as a ‘true social worker’ with unwavering principles in fighting the evils in the society. “No one and nothing can fill the void created by the loss of our dear brother,” the Union wrote in its condolence message.
YAN: The Youth Association of Nagaland (YAN) described late K Ghokheto Chophy, as one of the most sincere and dedicated leaders. Losing a great leader like him has created a big vacuum for the Dimapur people and Nagas in general, the Association stated.
Dimapur Meetei Council: The Dimapur Meetei Council expressed sadness at the demise of the NCD president and remembered the late President’s deep concern towards the Meetei community. “He was a man who always remained ready to assist the Dimapur citizen round the clock as and when needed. We express our sincere sympathy on the terrible loss of a great leader,” the Council stated in its condolence message.
WMCNSU: The World Meetei Convention Nagaland State Unit (WMCNSU), while grieving the demise of late Ghokheto Chophy, stated that he was a man who extended a helping hand without any distinction. “We have lost a great good capable leader who always stood for the right and welfare of Dimapur in particular and the whole society in general,” it added.
DENSU: The Dimapur Eastern Naga Students Union (DENSU) expressed grief at the NCD President’s demise.”He was a pronounced leader, who has contributed a lot to the society, especially to the citizens of Dimapur. He will always be remembered for his courage and contributions to his people,” the Union stated.
WSTH: Mourning late Chophy’s demise, the Western Sümi Totimi Hoho (WSTH) stated that he was an active and down to earth leader who always stood for the rights of the society, including people at grass root level. “The Nagas in general and the Sümi tribe in particular have lost a trustworthy leader and it will be difficult to fill his absence in our heart and also our Naga society,” it added.
SNUNS: The Southern Nagas Union Of Nagaland State (SNUNS) conveyed its condolences and stated that it is a huge loss for the family, the people of Dimapur and for all the Nagas to lose a “vibrant leader of immense competence.”
Sümi Küküpütsa: The Sümi Küküpütsa Board of Directors, Editor and staff expressed grief and sorrow at the demise of the NCD President on Saturday. “Late Ghokheto was a very down-to-earth and dynamic leader who worked tirelessly for the upliftment of Naga society. Late Ghokheto Chophy is a man of integrity and a true Naga leader,” it stated. His demise has created a vacuum for the Nagas in general and Sümis’ in particular and the void would be difficult to fill, it added.
WCH: The Western Chakhesang Hoho (WCH) conveyed its condolence to the wife and children of late Ghokheto Chophy. In its message, the WCH stated that late Ghokheto was an ‘unmatched and most dedicated social worker’ who has selflessly given his fullest service for the welfare of Dimapurians in particular and citizens of Nagaland in general. “He was an outspoken, straight forward l;eader and friend to all. We salute him and convey our respect to him,” it added.
