With regard to the news item “Rengma students clarify on job quota, spl recruitment drive”, it is made clear that the contents of the news report “NPSC floats advt for 10 EAC posts” wherein the Rengma Students’ Union president was mentioned, were a reproduction of June 21 issue of The Morung Express. Certain contents from the reports of the NSF tour from June 20-27 were also extracted to fit the context of the news.
Further, the news report was not based on any interview or telephonic conversation as have been thought by the RSU president. Within the purview of journalistic writing, one can always go back to previous reports to fit the story in hand and for which no permission from the person concerned is necessary. It is unfortunate that certain unsavory languages were used in the RSU rejoinder which could have been avoided.
