Hundreds of youth members attended the first day of the Dimapur Sumi Baptist Church Youth Revival which began Friday evening under the theme, “Let us go closer to God.”
Youngsters were seen being attended to by counsellors as they got engrossed in the worship service almost losing consciousness.
Speaking on the theme, Phutoli Chingmak, managing director on Eleutheros Christian Society Tuensang said moving closer to God required recognising one’s sin and then repenting for it. She said people would never move near to God as long as they were comfortable in their sins but that the process of nearing God would begin once the sin makes them uncomfortable. Phutoli also urged the congregation to do away with pride which according to her would remain a barrier in moving closer to God.
Further, she urged the people to know themselves if they wanted to know God and live a life worthy of it.. She lamented that pseudo-Christianity has gripped the Church today and that everyone was looking at the spirituality of others. Phutoli said salvation was a personal thing, and told the youngsters to believe in the power of Christ which can change them.
Earlier, senior Pastor DSBC Rev. Phughoto Aye said the invocation inaugurating the Youth Revival which will conclude on March 25 evening. The worship service on Friday was led by Notun Bosti/River Belt colonies.
