MSU submits representation to Governor

Seek attention for welfare of populace living along the international boundary

Kohima, August 4 (MExN): The Mimi Students’ Union (MSU) led by its President, Apong called on the Governor of Nagaland, PB Acharya on August 3 at Raj Bhavan Kohima and submitted a representation for the welfare of the populace living along the international boundary.  

The student leaders expressed their gratefulness to the Government of India for selection of Kiphire district as aspirational district and hoped that it will be at par with other districts in the days ahead.  

Submitting a representation to the Governor for his intervention, the Student leaders stated that equal importance should be given to all villages under the Aspirational District programme.  

The Union also stated that the NST bus service from Pungro town to Mimi Village was inaugurated on November 1, 2000, however the buses have not been plying till date. They also highlighted that the International Trade Centre at Mimi was yet to take off in spite of being selected for establishment of ITC along with Longwa, Pangsha and Avangkhu.  

The organisation also seeks the support of the Governor in inviting various NGOs and Human Resource Development to sensitize on improvement of rural economy to the people living in the area.  

PRO to Governor in a press release stated that Governor Acharya called the Students Union to also play a proactive role in developing their area. He stated that there were various Central and State Government schemes and welfare programmes for the benefit of rural people. He encouraged the Union to take time and visit villages in their area and identify the beneficiaries for all round development.
