Dimapur, November 17 (MExN): Deputy Chief Minister and Minister for Home, Y Patton inaugurated multi-storied hostel buildings at NAPTC and NPTS Chümoukedima on November 17. Both the buildings have 12 barracks, three commander rooms and three office rooms. Dedicatory prayer at NPTS was offered by Temsu pastor, PBC Chümoukedima. 

The Dy CMO Media Cell in a press release noted that the existing barracks for trainees constructed in the early 1970s were in deplorable conditions and it was becoming more challenging for the trainees and officers to operate efficiently.

At the NAPTC complex, DGP Nagaland, John Longkumer IPS, remarked that the projects were long felt need of the department and has been made possible with the support of the Dy CM. Rev Dr Tali Jamir, Assistant Pastor, PBC Chümoukedima said the dedicatory prayer followed by inauguration of the building by the special guest.

In the ensuing programme at NPTS, Er I Tiameren, Chief Engineer PEP gave a technical report of both the buildings. The construction of the multi storied hostel for accommodating 300 constable trainees with separate baths and toilets at NPTS was carried out by M/s N Mhonlumo Ovung for an estimated cost of Rs 4.96 crore and work order amount of Rs 3.61 crore under State Plan, which commenced on November 27, 2018 and completed on July 27, while the construction of the same capacity building at NAPTC was carried out by M/s SI Enterprise at an estimated cost of Rs 4.51 crore and work order amount of Rs 3.44 crores under Centrally Sponsored Scheme. The work commenced on December 13, 2017 and completed on August 27, 2021. 

The special guest in his address said that with the barracks being upgraded to meet requirements and effective functionality, he encouraged all trainees and officers to put in more hard work and use the facilities to house people for refresher courses and other hi-tech trainings and not confined to constabulary training alone. 

It is also expected that the barracks will be put into optimal uses while imparting training to the trainees to uphold and enforce the law impartially, to protect life, safeguard human rights, respect liberty and dignity of the people and to promote and preserve public order.
