Murder accused on the run arrested

A 27 year-old man was arrested by the Nagaland Police in Silchar in connection to a murder, which occurred at Medziphema last July. According to the Dimapur police, the man identified as Zuma Uddin alias Muno, was the prime accused in the murder of a Nepali woman (in her 50s), whose body was found dumped in an abandoned well at Medziphema on July 11. He was tracked down to Jirighat town in Cachar district, Assam from where he was captured on August 22 in coordination with the Assam Police. Said to be a native of Tripura, the police said that the accused was a resident of Medziphema town before absconding following the discovery of the murder. As per the police, the accused admitted to murdering the woman by strangulation on July 1 and dumping her body in a well. The motive though was still to be ascertained.
