The people of Nagaland are known for being warm and giving, and what better way to give than through music. This summer, Alobo Naga and The Band (ANTB) takes the opportunity to be on stage for the “Free-Handed concert,” an event to be hosted annually by Youth Oasis Centre (YOC). This year they are collaborating with I love Mokokchung, Zero Gravity, Rockstar Entertainment International, Wenkhang Foundation, Poor Patient Fund IMDH Mokokchung and Speak Guru Foundation who all share a similar belief with the Centre. When asked about the theme ‘Experience the joy of giving,’ Alobo replied, “Over the past years we have received a lot of love from Nagaland.
We take this event as a privilege to give back something to the society.” ANTB are all for playing and sharing music, and contributing to all things that matter: youth, society and love. YOC has held charity events before, internationally as well, and this is one such affair that is for a cause. Right from the start of the Centre’s inception, their mission has been to help the youth become spiritually enriched. With the hope to inspire people, Clement Imsong, MD of Rockstar Entertainment International said, “people will not just be buying a piece of entertainment but will also participate as a patron and take part in the giving.” This is a chance for people who want to give but just don’t know how or where to start.
Through this event, YOC encourages youths to participate directly or indirectly in this charity movement; by buying a ticket they will contribute towards charity. Focussed on the youth industry, they are also looking for bands and like-minded individuals and organizations with similar beliefs and missions that would want to partner, join hands and work together.
Alobo Naga and the Band said, “Our people have given so much love and support so we believe that it’s time for us to contribute back even in a small way. Being a part of this event we want to encourage our people to experience the joy of giving in one’s own capacity to the needy, at the same time, to go out and reach out to people through our music. We will continue to do such events around Nagaland when we are free from our projects and tours outside.”
