Dimapur | December 6
Expressing solidarity to the killing of fourteen innocent civilians at Oting village in Mon district, the three-day Musik-A Festival scheduled to commence from December 7 at Nagaland Bamboo Resource Centre, Sovima 6th Mile, Dimapur has been postponed till further notice.
Informing about the postponement in a press conference here at Citrine Hotel on Monday, Alobo Naga stated that the festival cannot go on when “our brothers and sisters are mourning.” On behalf of the organizers, Alobo said that they would mourn and assess the situation for the next 10 days and then would decide the new dates, “If things improve.”
On the impact of the postponement, Alobo said that the decision has resulted in losses for the organisers as many of the participants, artists, content creators across the country have already reached Nagaland or are on the way and now they would be sent back till a decision is taken. Further, all logistic arrangements were completed. However, he clarified that the festival will not be cancelled as the motive of the festival was to create a support system and many are looking forward to it.
Alobo informed that the sequence would largely remain the same though there might be increased number of days or “twists” but getting dates from the same international artistes after the postponement would be difficult and therefore, different international artistes might be roped in.
Addressing the media persons, Alobo also requested the government to repeal AFSPA describing Nagas as “peace loving” people and to take away from Nagaland the “disturbed area” tag.
The famous YouTuber “Inglish Maker” who was also supposed to be a part of the “YouTubers' Meet” scheduled to be held on December 7 was also present during the interaction. Terming the December 4 incident “sad”, he informed that he and others who reached the state would now go back and will come again once the new dates are fixed.
Representing Beta 3, the collaborator with Musik-A Events for the festival, Kartik Pandit called the December 4 incident “unfortunate” and defended the postponement of the festival saying that holding the festival doesn't make sense as people are not happy after the incident and they cannot correlate with the festive mood.
The festival, which was earlier scheduled to take place from December 7 to December 9, 2021, was to have three contests i.e., Battle of the Bands. Beatbox Battle, and Dance Battle among other events like “YouTubers Meet” and “International EDM Nite”.
Musik-A is partnering with Beta 3, Case Construction, The Fitness House, Vision Institute, Nab Foundation, Tune In, Dr Kahuka Clinical Spa, Nagaland Coffee and more for the planned festival.
