Dimapur, Feb 27 (MExN): With no confirmation from the two warring sides, speculation regarding the make up of the ‘mystery 13’ DMC members has become the mystery of the day. The 3rd day of this issue has not shed any light on the identity of the signatories in the petition submitted to the DC, as those in the know prefers to maintain silence. With both sides claiming majority, the issue may remain status quo since there appears to be no clear winners as of now.
A reliable source revealed that one or two DMC members presently supporting the DMC Chairperson are contemplating jumping ship to the other side, after testing the political waters, in case they are politically disadvantaged later. An unconfirmed information received from a source is that one DMC member has already gone underground after jumping ship. The question that remains is that of why the contents of the said petition are being kept a secret? Don’t the people have the right to know what’s going on? Isn’t the DMC a public service body? Aren’t the DMC members the elected representatives of their respective wards? Are the contents of the petition too explosive to be revealed at this juncture?
