Naga boy excels in field of film-making

Dimapur, November 24 (MExN): What can be termed as an eye opener for the people of Nagaland in the field of video, film-making, Moasunep Kichu has clinched the highest number of best programme awards at 19th UGC-CEC Educational Video Competition, which was held at New Delhi.

EMMRC director Fr. George Ponodath in a release informed that out of 229 entries received in various categories from UGC-CEC Media Centres, Educational Institutions, other Organizations, individuals and students from India and Asia, he got two best programme awards and one citation.

The programme “Before The Last” was awarded the best programme in the category of Social Sciences along with a cash prize of Rs. 30,000/-. This programme is about suicide. It was also screened at 3rd Kolkata Short Film Festival and 6th International Social Communication Cinema Conference.  “Rock Weathering” was awarded the best programme in Earth Sciences along with a cash prize of Rs.30,000/-. It is about the breaking down of rocks through various factors. “Analyzing Him” fetched citation in the category of programmes for adult. It is about analysis of semen for fertility and infertility test.         

 
Moasunep Kichu is a Producer at Educational Multimedia Research Centre (EMMRC) Kolkata, a University Grants Commission Project. EMMRC is attached to St. Xavier’s College, Kolkata. It was declared the best media centre for eight consecutive years from 1997-2005.

He belongs to Ao tribe from Chungtia Village, son of T. Rematsungba. He did BSc. Visual Communication from Loyola College, Chennai and MA Journalism and Mass Communication from Madras University. He is into the field television production for more than five years and has directed more than 25 programmes so far.
