‘Naga Churches ideal place to instill spirit of peace, love in minds of people’

Nagaland Governor Nikhil Kumar said the reconciliation process has gained momentum and felt that the NBCC and churches is the ideal place to instil the spirit of peace and love in the minds of the people.  

The Governor was delivering greetings this morning at the ongoing NBCC Platinum Jubliee. He said that there is a need to forget the past and come together to strive for a glorious future. He urged the Council and the people to see that peace and development in every aspect of life prevails. 

He said the occasion is special which began cheerfully and appreciated the achievement of the NBCC, performance of the participants and acknowledged the presence of the foreign delegates and the congregation. The Governor recalled the pioneering of Dr. E.W. Clark and his wife who established the mission in the Naga soil in 1872 and said what he began had steadily developed into having Baptist churches in the State and today with pride and satisfaction the State is celebrating the Platinum Jubilee of Baptist churches.

While acknowledging the activities of NBCC in its 75 years of existence, the Governor said that the council has promoted mutual understanding among the people cutting across tribes and culture and has excelled in the service of the people with education as the main object of concern. He also appreciated the council for concentrating on activities determining the future of the youth through spreading education by opening a number of Baptist Schools, Church Schools and Christian Colleges which are excelling.

The governor also asserted that the Council was insisting on the need for church based self reliance project and said that it has displayed great achievement in its social consciousness by identifying the issues affecting the society and urged to work hand in hand with the policy makers to finding solutions to such problems, like the Policy of Prohibition and launching of campaign on various social issues of abuses and HIV and AIDS is active in the State. 

Nikhil Kumar said that love, peace and compassion has to be the guiding principles for everyone and that all should strive to bring love and peace, not only to the State but to the whole world. He also appealed the delegates from abroad to be a part with the Nagas in spreading love and said that there could not be a better forum than the NBCC for the deed. He called upon the congregation to reveal in the glory of the achievement and wished for a successful celebration.
