Naga Entrepreneurs serve ultimatum to govt

Dimapur, January 17 (MExN): All Nagaland Selected Entrepreneur Association (ANSEA) has served a “charter of demands” along with 15 days ultimatum to the State government for the implementation of the “Year of Entrepreneurs (YoE).” A copy of the memo addressed to the Commissioner & Secretary, Industries and Commerce was received here today.

“Taking into serious consideration the lackadaisical attitude of the concerned authorities to implement the programme under YoE, ANSEA has unanimously resolved to serve the following charter of demands to the Government of Nagaland through its nodal department and insist compliance to the demand with an ultimatum to respond within 15 days from the date of this memorandum,” ASNEA President Kekhriesetuo Michael and Secretary Jasper Sumi stated in the memorandum.

ANSEA demanded that the government “provide clear and transparent information” concerning guidelines/modalities for implementation of the YoE as projected. It demands that the programmme be implemented and all process required to assist the 1000 selected candidates be realized and completed before the end of the current financial year, 2011-2012.

The association also demanded that allotment of financial assistant or seed money to set up enterprise be made “as per the DPR submitted by the selected entrepreneurs,” and only “minimum rectification be made in the DPRs as long as the project if economically feasible.” ANSEA demanded that the government also “create conducive linkages between the entrepreneurs and their enterprise with financial institutions and insist that it conform with the DPR submitted to the Nodal Department.”

ANSEA pointed out that it had made several appeals to the concerned authority through the media for information and clarification regarding the implementation of the programme but the government has turned a deaf ear to their pleas.  “While appreciating the government for launching its ambitious programme for development and growth of entrepreneurship in Nagaland by projecting 2010-2011 as the “year of entrepreneurship, it has become a matter of great concern that neither the government nor the concerned nodal agency has so far intimated/notified the selected entrepreneurship with any information pertaining to the programme implementation,” the letter mentioned.

Also pointing out that that the 1000 selected youths have already completed entrepreneurship development programme from the Indian Institute of Entrepreneurship from Guwahati and Dimpaur, and has already submitted the detailed project report (DPR) to the nodal government agency, ANSEA said it is still “awaiting government response.”

ANSEA warned that “if the implementing agency fails to comply with the associations demands within the stipulated time, the association would resort to its own course of action for which the nodal agency would be held responsible.” It also urged the government to take the matter seriously and expedite the fulfillment of the “charter of demands.”
