‘Naga people are still in the dark without knowing what is really happening between the GoI and NSCN (Niki) group,’ says Naga Hoho.

Dimapur, January 5 (MExN):  Welcoming the ‘matured decision’ taken by Gen (Retd) Niki Sumi to renew the ceasefire with Government of India, the Naga Hoho has urged the Centre to “formally announce the renewal of ceasefire with the concern NSCN without any precondition on the leadership for an inclusive solution.”

In a press release on Tuesday, the Naga Hoho stated that “the Naga people are still in the dark without knowing what is really happening between the GoI and NSCN (Niki) group.”

It said that the Naga Hoho has been striving for peaceful and inclusive Indo-Naga political settlement ever since its inception through nonviolent means of resolving our long drawn political movement while recounting the Hoho’s efforts to meet NSCN (K) chairperson SS Khaplang when the group unilaterally abrogated the ceasefire in March 2015.

In this backdrop, the Naga Hoho lauded the Niki Sumi led NSCN (K)’s decision to renew the ceasefire and called on the Government of India to formally announce the renewal without any preconditions.
