DIMAPUR, NOVEMBER 23 (MExN): The Naga Hoho has issued another statement on the issue of the election of a new team of office bearers.
Speaker, Federal Assembly, Naga Hoho through a press release informed that the tenure of the Naga Hoho executives expires on November 26, 2018 as per the constitution. The new office bearers are supposed to be elected two months ahead of the expiry date by constituting a search/nomination committee by the Federal Assembly.
However, due process was not followed owing to various reasons, the Naga Hoho claimed while apologising to the Naga people for their shortcomings and failures. And even though the Executive Council would cease to function by November 26, the statement said the organs of the Federal Assembly shall remain alive till the new team of office bearers is constituted for continuity of the Naga Hoho.
For this, the speaker in consultation with the tribe hohos shall summon a Federal Assembly at the earliest possible time to constitute the Election Commission and other issues to strengthen the Naga Hoho. The necessity has arisen to facilitate consultation with all tribe hoho so that all due processes are carried forward through the Federal Assembly, it informed.
Towards this, the Naga Hoho has called upon all tribe hohos and organisations to bear and understand the fragile situation, co-operate and actively participate in order to have a “rejuvenated and vibrant Naga Hoho to serve the Naga people.”
