Dimapur, May 2 (MExN): The Naga Hoho has said today that it is aware of reports that lakhs of rupees are being paid in return for jobs, in the Nagaland government departments, including the police department and recently, the ongoing recruitment for teachers.
The Naga Hoho issued a press release today demanding free and fair competition and has assured that the apex tribal organization will not “bow down to such corrupt practices” including bribery in the recruitment of teachers.
“We have been witnessing filling up of post in all the departments for various categories with or without interview owing to superannuation. In this regard, we can not deny the corruption meted out in different levels for purchasing of post by spending lakhs of rupees. Like for instance, there have been stories of giving two-three lakhs in Police Department for the post of Sub-Inspector and below,” the Naga Hoho said.
Recalling the interview for teachers scheduled for May 3, 2012 in all the district headquarters, the Naga Hoho said reports have surfaced yet again from different sources about “payment of two-three lakhs for the post of undergraduate and graduate teacher.”
“As we have committed ourselves towards safeguarding the rights of the people and their future, the Naga Hoho cautions the authorities concerned to conduct fair and just interview without infringement upon established laws and procedures,” the organization’s vice president Inaka Assumi and assistant general secretary Nikhrolo Khalo.
“We also appeal to every individual who are preparing to face the interview not to succumb before the perpetrator in the interest of common people. Naga Hoho shall not bow down to such corrupt practices in case of proven cases.”
