Debating the motion of thanks to the Governor’s address during the Assembly session on Monday, MLA Dr Chumben Murry said that the formation of an opposition-less government was “an explicit example of enabling renewed effort to facilitate Naga solution without any reservation.”
He referred to a recent statement from the Working Committee, Naga National Political Groups wherein the Committee described the state government’s facilitatory efforts as ‘neo-NPC,’ and maintained that neither the Parliamentary Committee nor its core committee members are part of the negotiations nor will they be signatories of solution that will come by.
“It is unfortunate to have such myopic attitude at this critical juncture when the yearning for solution on the part of the assembly is realistic, sincere and we are unanimous on the fact that we desire solution before election,” stated Murry.
On the criticism the UDA government has received from the NPCC and the RPP, Murry maintained that it has been ‘truthfully’ playing the role of facilitator.
“Little do they understand that the formation of opposition-less government is an explicit example of enabling renewed effort to facilitate Naga solution without any reservation,” he said while going on to justify that the two opposing benches coming together even for the Naga cause has not been easy.
Chief Minister and leader of the house Neiphiu Rio reiterated the oft-repeated stance that the legislators, as facilitators, have separately, and combined efforts held several consultative meetings with the CSOs, NGOs and all stakeholders passing resolutions both outside and inside the Assembly for early solution to the protracted issue which is honourable and acceptable to the people.
Meanwhile, MLA Imtiwapang Aier put forth that the reports of both the SIT and the Army Court of Inquiry into the December 2021 Oting incident, be made available at the earliest. The guilty must be booked and penalised, he asserted while urging the government to sincerely take up developmental projects in the affected areas as stated in the Governor’s address.
