Liberal Democratic People of Nagaland
Reformation of Hohos: The exit of the three giants: ENPO, CNTC and NTC in the falls of 2016, from the Naga Hoho is no miscarriage given the congest symptoms exhibited opposing proliferation of the larger Naga interest. Apex body such as the Naga Hoho should have exhibited maturity and impartiality in its functions and diplomacy. When the whole concept of the body is to be compromised under a certain section of proponents for whatever agenda whilst not indulging to consider the reality of perspectives that differed and had but only enhanced towards the legitimate call, how relevance is it now of the concept to be in dark and hinder a call; a clarion one that reciprocates our current disunity. The body itself is not relevant if the root has struck deep but the concept should be enacted for this purpose. And for that, with regard to the present context, the Apex bodies that truly represents the interest of Nagaland, should coordinate even more than before with each other, and enliven the concept of Naga unity under the fold and nexus of the tribal Hohos. The members in the Hohos should also see to it to include educated and sensible, young and matured who are well enriched with the way the world works in contemporary times to encompass the intellectual requirements requisite for a civilization to flourish. The Hohos has a responsibility to shoulder the interest of the Nagas at such crucial times, to represent the collective voice of the Nagas especially when the section of people who having usurped a recognition of sake they proclaim legit remain adamant and assuming nom de guerre posing as genuine. It is for certain that the Nagas of Nagaland who for many decades has been suppressed, unlike our forefathers just some three scores back, by forces external and internal, has but awoke from a regressed slumber and has only never been more sure of the adversaries that pose as a stumbling wall from the direction we all foresee and are exhilarated to embark upon. However as the movement caught the whole lot by surprise, we are today scattered by the phantom of agony and despair inflicted in our way of life by enormous transgression that enmeshed over parallel manifold of factors, in a series of chain of events. Thus, the Nagas today require a platform that postures the collective yearning and desire we all had long longed, so that our silenced voice would no more ring trapped inside our confused minds but impact out in the natural world and manifest itself into progress—we have for eons deferred.
Contemporary political reference: Our politics has always been democratic and the Plebiscite of 1951 reaffirmed our democratic stance, even though the newly independent India dismissed to acknowledge our independence – as such was the perception of the leaders back in those old days. Our inherent democratic independence is not a case of secession—to be snatched and ensnared by any elements, be it foreign or internal. The secession we witnessed was of the emergence of many groups and the aspiration they all professed to bear for the people, be it in nationalistic or regional ground. Thus, the foundations laid down by our foremost political pioneers and explorers like A Z Phizo, T Sakhrie, Scato Swu, Mowu etc. to name a few, who never found it in their hearts to dampen their spirits even when all odds seemed to favor against them, would always be enshrined as a cornerstone for people oriented political aspiration, in the history of Naga. It is because of their pledge for a free Nagaland and freedom of all folds for the people to reap, has kindled the flame in the heart and minds of the generations of Nagas that preceded their own time inheriting their legacy. While in the contemporary nature of politics, we hold steadfast of the principles our predecessors charted and has but only evolved along the way with the rest of the world even though it may be alluring to succumb to the merits of the conventional ideologies of post First and Second World War. The law we seek is not to be devoid of reason, to surrender our rights to inscribed rules and regulations without an in-depth of logic. Today in this diverse reality of cultures and ethos, as a human, we should also be tolerant with the diversification and resonate with rational secular law. Even the Christian doctrine does not teach us to be biased and prejudiced. That is not law, if it embodies bias and discrimination. It is blasphemy towards the religion and the omnipresent Judail God, also known as Jehovah in Christianity and Yahweh in Judaism, if in the name of religion our personal and economic liberty and freedom is to be snatched – from a realist point of view. The Nagas are not irrational and do not exclude reason to hinder justice. To obstruct our natural inherent rights in the name of religion is a deception of degree that we have all accounted during the medieval times in Europe. We know and comprehend the anomalies of ideas and beliefs in our arguments, which is why our common sense guides us to co-exist in harmony with any section of human creed, from far and near.
Democracy has prevailed in any section of the world, from an oppressed and deprived ordinary citizen, to the notion of equality. What we are is we’re all the same. The poor are poor because of the rich and the rich are rich because of the poor; likewise, the powers are so because of the powerless and vice versa. There are reasons in every space, every time, and this fact cannot be ignored. Democracy is defined as a government of the people, by the people and for the people. True democracy is perpetual continuity of progress. The US of America has three branches of government namely: the executive, the judicial and the legislative. The three branches checks and monitor each other consistently so that there are no irregularities in laws to check the powers, both in the house and bureaucracy. Since we are in dire need for growth in development, to be sustained from the grass root level, we require of a new and reliable structure for the upcoming. A true elite democracy could be for an entity of three that cross-check and scrutinize each one so that there are no obstruction to progress and transparency. Educated sensible class/elite intellectuals, elected representatives and the people, where the sensible class would check, guide and direct the representatives who would administer and manage the developmental projects, who in turn would be conditionally transparent and monitored, and approached before the people committee in its legislation and executions. Such amount of cohesion would ensure a productive and progressive society, in a tiny state such as ours. The components would be no other than the people themselves. A democracy of elite nature would not succumb to any prejudices, bias, nepotism etc. but would offer a fair ply to every citizen with equal rights and opportunity.
Conclusion: We have today at hand problems of great magnitude in every aspect of our society and unless the people mutually accept to solve it one step at a time or simultaneously, in due time, these problems which have already trampled our every aspect of life, would smite us underneath it never to break free from the bound. The calling is now and every citizens need to address it to one another that we have had enough of all the problems that has enslaved us and that we should think and choose the right direction which exist in each of our subconscious that we need to dig in. Being civil and sensible doesn’t mean succumbing to bias and discrimination of any force. It is about being more human but all the while we should not let men of less reason, bias and authority centered to deprive us of our rights. Our political pioneers did not gave up on justice but decided to establish their rights in moderate and civilized way by holding the Plebiscite of 1951. Even in the contemporary era, the incident of Mukhalimi and the ULB fiasco, where ordinary citizens laid down their lives in the belief that their contribution would one day awaken the citizens to realize that there is no justice in our way of life, and if it has to be a life to be paid for the justice to resonate, they had and would lay it down if they had as much life. We know exactly where we are all heading and no one can delude us where we are not. The problems are for us to solve if we are to free ourselves from it. And in times of doubt, our brave brothers stand beside us chickens and we are proud of them.
