DIMAPUR, AUGUST 3 (MExN): The NSCN Khaplang has stated that it was indeed true that Kilonser Athrong has served the nation for the last three to four decades in various capacities. His contributions and achievements to the Naga struggle for the last thirty eight years (38) has already been proved to the Nagas, stated a press note from the MIP.
However it stated that the “credits has been weighed, measured and evaluated and found most wanting and vain, for he along with Khole, Kitovi and hosts of naïve, immature and outmoded old flock on the verge of sequestration chose to betray Naga brothers from Eastern Nagaland and NSCN/GPRN for a morsel of food crumbs offered by GOI as compensation for the services rendered to the struggle”.
“How honorable would it have been, had they honorably and voluntarily retired from active services and yet continue to offer wise counsel to the up-coming dynamic younger generations”, the MIP note stated while adding that instead, they opted to “barter away their lifetime sacrifices in exchange for meager relief, which in itself is not only disgraceful but an ugly irreparable dent and self-inflicted scar that would not only be recorded for posterity to condemn as political capitulation in the Naga History, but also act of self-vilification that renders their services as reimbursed and wages taken”.
Pointing out that the “global world of intellectualism, modernization and competition demands for dynamic leadership competent to navigate vast political and socio-economic complexes”, however it stated that unfortunately the Naga struggle had for considerable time been “stagnated and obstructed from gaining momentum by these eccentric, disoriented and archaic old men who are enclosed within narrow egoistic guffaws and eager only to relate the past and remain in the past”.
It stated that “progressive and enlightened younger generation Nagas should rather be appreciated and encouraged to usher in a new era of political revolution and infuse the Nation building process with fresh challenging positive concepts and reinvigorated patriotic spirit in tune with the rest of the world”.
Pointing out that the “Historical facts and political rights of the Nagas are meant to be imbibed by every generation Nagas, basing on which the Nagas struggle for self-determination and sovereignty derives inspiration and elixir”, it stated that young or old, “the achievements and endowments rendered to the cause is what matters, the length or stretch of years and decades committed is only a matter of record and one’s obligation as a Naga”.
It then went on to add that “trying to blow one’s own trumpet, gloating over the length of enrolment or years of association shows how shallow and conceited these personalities had been all the while” while pointing out that the “Naga struggle is purely honorary and selfless, therefore the political novices who has chosen the enemy’s dispensation should be ashamed of selves and rather cower in disgrace and safety of the refuge being extended to them by GOI than to exhibit their grey haired follies”.
