Chakhroma Students’ Union 38th General Conference 2019-21 was held at Chümoukedima Town Council Hall under the theme ‘Agents of Change’ with Dr Kevingulie, RTD Additional Director as guest speaker on April 17.

DMI St Joseph Global School conducted ‘story-telling competition’ for class 1 to 5 on April 16. The objective of the competition was to equip the students with the skill of story-telling, instill virtues, boost listening skills, trigger imagination, build confidence, and improve proficiency and expose them to the world literature. It was held class wise by the English department.  The winners were honourned with certificates in the school auditorium by school Administrator Rev Sr Rosa Mary and Principal Backiyaraj T. A rostrum at Aoyimti village constructed through the contribution of various organization, individuals and well-wishers was inaugurated by Minister PHED, N Jacob Zhimomi on April 17. The Council and VDB collaborated for construction of the rostrum. The special guest was given a reception by beating the traditional log drum by youths of Aoyimti village. Jacob in his address lauded the villagers for upholding the tradition of giving and supporting for the community cause and encouraged them to be united and be stakeholders in developing the village. The village council Chairman, Imnukloba expressed appreciation to the Minister and invitees for participating in the Platinum Jubilee yearlong celebration. He also mentioned gratitude to DRDA Dimapur for their enthusiasm in developing the village. 

Huge quantity of IMFL including 600 cases of MC Rum, 20 cases of whisky, 10 cases of vodka, 100 cases of beer were destroyed on April 17 in presence of police, administration, DBs and Prosecuting Inspector and staff. The destroyed consignments were seized on several occasions from Wokha town. (DIPR Photo)
