Nagaland: 140 apply for assistance from Tamil Nadu govt

Dimapur, May 30 (MExN): A list of 140 stranded people from Nagaland in 8 districts of Tamil Nadu was submitted to the Northeast Nodal Officer for COVID-19 under the Government of Tamil Nadu, to seek assistance in procuring rations and shelter.


According to a press release from Wapangtoshi, Pastor of NCF Chennai and Nagaland Nodal Officer for COVID-19, the list which was submitted to Nodal Officer SF Chiru, included a request for dry food ration supplies to 100 stranded Nagaland people in six districts of Tamil Nadu and food and shelter for 40 stranded people from Nagaland in two other districts.


The release stated that the Nodal officer responded positively and assured continuous assistance to the stranded people from Nagaland. It has been reported that many people from Nagaland in the list started receiving the assistance from the Tamil Nadu government in various districts, it added.


It further expressed gratitude to the Government of Tamil Nadu and the two Northeast Nodal Officers for the support and help throughout the lockdown period. 


Further, Wapangtoshi appealed to the people in Nagaland “to be united more than before to fight against this deadly virus and continue to demonstrate our Naga spirit and hospitality in all times.”
