Death toll now 205 while 104 recover
DIMAPUR, MAY 17 (MExN): 273 cases of COVID-19 were detected in Nagaland on May 7 while seven new deaths were also reported on the day taking the State’s COVID-19 fatality count to 205.
The Health Department’s bulletin informed that the new cases include 119 from Kohima, 58 from Dimapur, 61 from Mon, 10 from Tuensang, 6 from Wokha, 5 each from Kiphire, Mokokchung and Zunheboto, and 4 from Peren.
The new cases comprise of 148 detected through self tests and random sampling, 102 traced contacts, 14 from the armed forces/security personnel, 7 returnees/travelers, and 2 frontline workers.
Meanwhile, 104 new recoveries were also reported on the day. They include 70 from Dimapur, 25 from Kohima, 5 from Peren, 3 from Mokokchung and 1 from Mon.
The total caseload of the State is now 18,349. A total of 13,299 patients have recovered from the infection and there are now 4,253 active cases. The number of deaths due to the virus is now 205.
Of the active cases, 3,876 are asymptomatic, 180 have mild symptoms, 78 have moderate symptoms and are on oxygen and 79 have severe symptoms requiring oxygen. Meanwhile 40 patients are in ICU, with 17 of them on ventilators.
