Nagaland’s COVID-19 active case count rose to 4,819 as 309 more people tested positive for the virus, while 6 new fatalities pushed the death toll to 408, according to official data on Saturday.
As per the Nagaland COVID-19 bulletin issued by the Integrated Disease Surveillance Programme (IDSP), Health and Family Welfare department, out of 1,460 samples, 309 returned positive on June 5, indicating a test positivity rate of 21.16%.
Of the new cases, Mokokchung district accounted for the highest cases at 164, followed by Kohima (55), Dimapur (33), Mon (29), Tuensang (15), Longleng (7), Kiphire (4), while Phek and Peren districts reported 1 case each.
Among the new cases, 210 cases were detected among traced contacts, 88 through self testing and random sampling, 5 were frontline workers, 4 from the armed forces/security personnel and 2 from returnees/travellers, the bulletin stated.
The six deaths on Saturday were reported from Dimapur (2), Mokokchung (2), Kohima (1) and Zunheboto (1). This is excluding 14 other deaths that were categorised as ‘not COVID related’ in the IDSP bulletin.
On the other hand, at least 177 COVID-19 patients who previously tested positive for the virus, recovered on Saturday.
With this, the cumulative recovered cases increased to 16,814 out of a cumulative 22,696 infections in the state. As per the bulletin, 641 cases have migrated to other states as of June 5.
